中國新年 Chinese New Year
|
|
The first day of the lunar calendar signifies a new year for the Chinese. Also called Spring Festival, the Chinese New Year is the grandest of the traditional holidays. It's a day for families to get together to eat sweets, dumplings, and other delicacies. It's a festival of lights, firecrackers, and well-wishing. At the MLC we organize an activity to capture all the excitement which includes writing couplets, learning how to speak auspiciously and of course, singing! We hope that all of our students can experience this unique custom the right way. |

端午節 Dragon Boat Festival

Dragon Boat Festival is on the 5th day of the 5th month of the lunar calendar. On Dragon Boat Day, we traditionally eat Zongzi (sticky rice dumplings) and watch dragon boat races. According to tradition, we do this to honor the great poet, Qu Yuan. Other traditions include trying to make an egg stand upright, which if done at midday will bring you good luck. At the MLC we've woven together these customs to give students an unforgettable and interactive experience.

中秋節 Mid-Autumn Festival
|
|
Mid-Autumn Festival is held every year on the 15th day of the 8th lunar calendar month. There are many myths and legends surrounding this holiday; the most famous of which is of a beautiful maiden jumping to the moon! On this day families get together and enjoy the full moon, eat cookies and relax. At the MLC we've designed a program that lets students learn about this significant Chinese Holiday. Most importantly, you get to try Moon Cookies!
